We released our first staffing industry forecast for Canada for 2026-27, which is to date the most comprehensive view of the Canadian industry built from industry experts. As staffing executives, we found it incredibly difficult to find reliable data, which prompted us to build this report, showcasing the staffing forecast per segment, province, city but also product (temp, perm, payrolling, etc.), along with a detailed analysis of the key drivers of growth, opportunities and threats. In the following month, we will also be releasint segment deep dives, with specific forecast reports for Finance & Accounting, Skilled Trades, IT and Manufacturing. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, we have on tap an update of the CSJ Hiring Index, showing a slightly degraded outlook as recent data came in, although there is still cautious optimism from now to early next year as interest rates were cut. We also analyzed the impact of the reduction in international student volumes which is starting to flow through the labour force numbers, and the possibility of a 3-day work week in Canada.
Finally, we come back on the (sometimes grim) reality of AI implementation, and the growing disconnect between employersâ expectations and employeesâ capabilities, and how it is likely to increase burnout risks through continuous friction.
